Life on Beach Road
Around three hundred people live on this sandy corner of Moresby Island. It’s the kind of town where the airport, the harbour and the ferry are each a few minutes away — and nothing else is in a hurry.
The Spirit of Sandspit sculpture and the Spit Walk Trail are a fifteen-minute stroll east along Beach Road — eagles, shorebirds and Hecate Strait weather included.
Fifteen minutes west lies the Damaxyaa Heritage Site & Conservancy and the Louise Dover Trail — old-growth rainforest at the edge of town.
Sandspit is the jumping-off point for Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve and Haida Heritage Site, with an 85-berth harbour serving the south island.
A five-minute drive to one of the more improbable golf courses in Canada — nine oceanside holes on the edge of the world.

Getting here
Sandspit Airport (YZP) has daily flights to and from Vancouver — and the lodge is just 2 km from the terminal, with airport transportation available.
Coming from Daajing Giids, Skidegate or Masset? The Alliford Bay ferry crosses from Skidegate Landing, and we’re about ten minutes from the dock.
Sail from Prince Rupert to Skidegate with your vehicle, then take the short Alliford Bay crossing to Moresby Island and follow Beach Road into Sandspit.
